Rip DVD to WDTV Media Player for TV as private using

When backing up DVD Discs for enjoying on HD TV with WD TV Live Plus HD Media Player, there are many ways to choose from. To keep lossless quality for high-definition TV, you can either copy m2ts streams straightly from BD, or make the whole BD into an ISO image file. But there is a problem here- the WD TV Live Plus will not allow you to forward movie or select a chapter to start with when playing BD ISO or m2ts clips.

So many WD TV uses turn to MKV format, which holds a whole movie in a single file including lossless video, multiple HD audio tracks and subtitles. But another issue comes up- subtitles are not displayed as you watch ripped movie on HDTV, because WD TV Live Plus HD Media Player does not supports PGS subtitles in MKV container. What is the Difference Between DVD Ripping and Copying?

DVD ripping and copying are similar, yet very different. both processes are used to get around content restrictions on DVDs so that the owners can manipulate the data however they like. However, each method is designed for a different function and uses different functions to complete the process of duplicating the data on the disc.

No matter what you may read in tech chat rooms, DVD ripping and copying are two completely different processes. While they both remove copying restrictions, each process is intended for using the DVD data differently.

    Digital Copyright Laws

The biggest question on your mind may be the legality of DVD ripping or copying. Technically, neither process is legal. In 1998, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) was created to protect the copyrights of the owners of digital media. According to the DMCA, it is illegal to "Circumvent a technological measure that effectively controls access to a work protected under this title." The act also states, "No person shall, without the authority of the copyright owner or the law, intentionally remove or alter any copyright management information.

What this means is that while making copies or ripping DVDs isn't illegal, removing the security features is. Unfortunately, it is impossible to copy or rip a DVD without removing its security features. The only way to legally watch the contents of a DVD on another media player is to use the Universal Digital Copy that is now included with many new DVDs.

    Copying DVDs

Copying a DVD is exactly what it sounds like. You use DVD copy software to remove the copying restrictions from the data and make an exact copy of the DVD on a new disc.

    Ripping
    DVDs

DVD ripping, on the other hand, doesn't mean copying a DVD to a disc. It is the process of saving a file in another format, which allows you to use the data with different media players on smartphones, video iPads and other devices. DVD ripping changes the data and makes it more accessible to you by allowing you to download and play it on multiple devices.

Why You Should Use DVD Copy Software?

Before we get into why you would want to have a DVD copy of your favorite DVDs, let's consider the basics first. DVDs perform two essential tasks: they store recorded information and play back information. Some can do both; some can only do one or the other. Anyone who has ever owned or rented a DVD - whether it was a movie, computer software or personally recorded video has come across a disc that has been scratched or broken. It seems to go with the territory.

In today's day and age (we are in the Information Age, in case you hadn t heard), we have a number of devices that have the capability of recording video, such as smartphones, digital cameras and even most standard cell phones.

Although they are not the latest and greatest communication media available to us today, DVDs can be expensive to buy or replace. In some cases, like with certain movies, music videos or home movies, the information recorded on these DVDs is irreplaceable.
Let's step back for just a second. The simple, basic reason that CD and DVD copy software was created is to fulfill our continually expanding requirements for storing data. Not only do we need something on which to store our media and information, but we also need it to be portable, compact and high quality.

Another advantage of DVD copy software is that
Pavtube Video Converter Ultimate  allows you to duplicate homemade DVDs. This is useful if you have created a disc of personal memories such as a wedding, school play or sporting event. These programs allow you to burn as many copies as you wish to share with friends and family. This is also valuable for certain types of professionals, like actors, filmmakers and musicians. You can use the  Mac software to burn demo reels to share with agents, producers and other potential employers. Reviews.

The CD, DVD and their attendant burners came along and, the information storage void was filled. Since their initial release and subsequent evolution, CD and DVD copy burners have become so prevalent and popular that it is often taken for granted that they come standard with brand new personal computers.

You might have to do a little detective work to find it and the directions on how to use it, but it is well worth the time and energy.

    Step 1. Load DVDs.

It dose not only support loading both DVD disc, but also support DVD folder, DVD ISO, DVD folder and DVD IFO/ISO files.

It seems during the importing, the disc would be decrypted already.

    Step 2. Choose H.264 MP4 format.

Click the "Format" drop-down list and choose HD Video>H.264 HD Video(*.mp4). Or we can enter "H.264 MP4" in the small search box to quick locate matched presets. We can also choose presets like iPhone, iPad, iPod, Android and Windows 8 RT/Pro phoneS/tabletS, etc. for particularly using.

Step 3. Adjust target video specs (Optional)

Click "Settings" as bellow to check the source/target video size, bitrate, frame rate and other settings in one go, you will be able to know the target video size with different bitrate settings immediately.

Step 4. Start converting DVD to H.264 MP4.

This top Blu-ray Ripper from Pavtube can rolls off Blu-ray/DVD disc protection, supports loseless 1:1 Blu-ray backup and keeps all the disc titles and chapter structure perfectly.  I have successfully convert my blu-rays/dvds to my Android Phones & Android Tablets (like Google Nexus), Oppo Find 5, Galaxy Fit  for watching with ease. I can merge the converted video files into one and freely add SRT,ASS, SSA subtitles.

Overall, it is capable of making copies of Blu-rays, so you can back up Blu-rays/DVD computer without quality loss. It takes everything from the DVD, including the chapters, extras, and subtitles. With the Full Disc Copy feature, you can copy the Blu-ray disc to hard drive maintaining the original structure. With the Directly Copy feature, you can backup only Blu-ray main movie and leave out extras. Besides, this Blu-ray Ripper also lets you rip and convert any latest Blu-ray to MP4, AVI, WMV, MOV, FLV, M4V, MPEG, ASF and more.

Don't you like to have a try?

They provide free trial (no time limitation) before purchase; and you can reach the Mac version here (Also 30% off now). Here is a guide for Mac users: How do I Back up and Burn a Blu-ray with Mac?

How to backup Blu-ray/DVD with best video quality

Step 1. Run Best Blu-ray Ripper and import disc.

Click this icon to load disc from ROM, IFO/ISO or folder. I also noticed if you have a ISO file to import, it will recognize the ISO file automatically with no need to run virtual driver and mount ISO files firstly. Good design.

    Step 2. Choose format.

Click "Format" drop-down list and choose proper format for different using.

For instance, if you simply want to back up Blu-ray/DVD to external hard drive, here are two solutions:

    1. Click the "computer" icon on the top to output 1:1 Blu-ray/DVD file exactly the same as original.

    2. Select "Copy>Directly Copy" in format list to output an intact m2ts file of the main title.

Step 3. Change video specs. (Optional)

If you are not satisfied with default specs, then click "Settings" to enter Profiles Settings windows. You can customize video frame rate, bitrate, size and other settings freely.

(It does not work for directly copy)

    Step 4. Start conversion.

Click the big red "Convert" to start backing up or converting your Blu-ray/DVDs. Usually backup will be quicker because it does not need to do trancoding.

After the conversion, click "Open output folder" to quick locate converted files. Connect your hard drive to computer and transfer them into it.
